Analytics and reporting
Reports that answer a business question, with numbers you can explain.
A dashboard is useful when it helps someone make a decision. More charts do not solve unclear definitions or unreliable source data. We work with your teams to decide what needs measuring, make the calculations understandable and present the information in a form people can use in everyday work.
Start with the decisions behind the report
We ask who uses the report, which questions it should answer and what action follows a change in the numbers. That might mean reviewing delivery performance, understanding margin by product or seeing where work is accumulating.
For each measure, we agree a definition, source and update schedule. Terms such as revenue, active customer and completed job often need a more careful discussion than the chart itself.
Keep the presentation useful and consistent
We design views around the audience rather than putting every available measure on one screen. Management may need a concise summary, while an operational team needs to investigate individual records and exceptions.
Filters, comparisons and explanations should help people interpret the information correctly. We review the views with actual users and check important figures against the source before treating the report as ready.
Make reporting maintainable
We document the calculations and the connections that feed them. Permissions should reflect who needs the information, and a change to a metric should have a clear owner rather than silently producing a different answer next month.
We can work in your existing reporting tool or help assess another option. The data model, definitions and operating responsibilities matter at least as much as the tool selected.
What you receive
- Agreed business questions and metric definitions
- Reporting views and useful drill-down paths
- Source reconciliation and access configuration
- Calculation documentation and user walkthrough
A good fit when
- Meetings begin with a discussion about whose numbers are correct
- Reports take too much manual work to prepare
- Teams have plenty of charts but little useful information
Common questions
Can you use our current reporting tool?
Yes. We review its capabilities and the way your team uses it. A new tool is not necessary if the main issue is the data model, calculation logic or report design.
What if the source data does not support the measure we want?
We explain the gap and look at what can be measured reliably now. We can also identify changes to the source process or data collection needed for the intended measure.
Can users create their own reports afterwards?
That can be part of the scope. It requires understandable datasets, documented definitions and appropriate permissions, along with a walkthrough of how to use them.
